Switch Port screens issue in practice

    Hi,

I had a issue with screens: I have about 20 switches, so I created one screen called overview and other one with info and graphs for each port, all items are dynamic.

The problem is that not all of switches has the same quantity of ports, I have some with 24, some 25 and some of them with 26 ports. So it creates some unneeded screens. As creating screens from templates is impossible and is not a feature for exclude host from dynamism.

    any ideas?

    Another feature *needed*

An addon to this is at some sites we have an overview screen for some switches. The problem is if05 tells you nothing other than it's port number 5 on such and such switch. We need to have a description in the graph, such as if05 (VPN Server) or if06 (Eng Network Uplink). I submitted a patch a while ago and the site that uses this patch loves it. However it greatly complicates their upgrade path. This is something *needed* in new releases. Templates are awesome, but they don't allow for localization tweaks for a specific host/item.

A temporary solution for issue I mentioned could be that zabbix ignore items that is not defined for a given host instead of performing a snmp query... I have no idea how to do that

It should come back as not supported after the first query. Is it coming back as not support yet the graph is still being displayed?
