    What is Jason Object?

    I'm receiving the following error in my zabbix_agentd log on a client. What is this error? Thanks.

      Sorry to ask this on what has been stated is not the correct forum.

      Where was this issue moved to.
      Tried searching all the forums on zabbix.com with this being the only hit for the Jason object issue.
      I am getting the same issue on our Solaris 10 servers running zabbix_agentd 1.6
      It does not seem to be causing any real problems other than annoying entries in zabbix_agentd logfile.

        afaik, jason is the markup style used to transfer values back end forth between the server and agents as of version 1.6. To my limited knowledge about this, it could sound like the network stream is corrupted in some way, or either the server or agent is sending non-parseable data?

          Thanks for the guidence.

          I turned up the debug level on our the 1.6 client and found that it is to do with active checks

          extract from logfile
          16939:20080925:083712 refresh_active_checks('<SERVER HOST IP>',10051)
          16939:20080925:083712 Sending [{
          "request":"active checks",
          "host":"<CLIENT DNS NAME>"}]
          16939:20080925:083712 Before read
          16939:20080925:083712 Got [NOT OK]
          16939:20080925:083712 In parse_list_of_checks() [NOT OK]
          16939:20080925:083712 In disable_all_metrics()
          16939:20080925:083712 Can't open jason object

          This client was not actually being queried by the server just running while i did zabbix_get check tests from the server to test Solaris 10 and zones queries.
          Over night i noticed the "Can't open jason object" was still being logged even though this client was not being queried

          I turned of active checks on the client and the error went away.

          Now of course i may need active checks once i get further through the testing so this may still be an issue later.

          Could this be a problem due to me running zabbix 1.4.6 as the server and 1.6 as the client.

            Well, according to the thread below, the communication protocol should be backwards compatible in 1.6, but I would suggest you to run the same version on both ends:

              ZABBIX 1.4.x server does not work with newer 1.6 agents. However combination of 1.4.x agents with 1.6 server is absolutely fine.

                Thanks for the update on the version compatibility.

                I tried to build the 1.6 server on Solaris 10 without success but i am pretty sure it was something i was doing wrong with referencing some libraries.

                Used the 1.6 agent on our Solaris servers as it seemed to have more agentd options working.

                  Have upgrade our zabbix server running on Solaris 10 to 1.6 and this has resolved the problem.
