We just kick-started Zabbix evaluation, to potentially replace our existing NMS. Our current system SNMP monitors ~4000 network devices / ~40K interfaces / ~800K items @ ~4000 nvps, using two separate regional instances.
*Network Devices System/global data (5 min polling) - ~90,000 items / ~300 values per second
*WAN/critical interfaces data (1 min polling) - ~100,000 items / ~1,600 values per second
*Non critical interfaces data (5 min polling) - ~640,000 / ~2,100 values per second.
*Threshold based Triggers ~120K
While we have just begun on zabbix, I thought of getting some real-life setup examples & feedback to convince myself as well as the team for scalability in network monitoring.
If anyone snmp polling (or attempting) 4000+ nvps, could share some info on their setup / proxy snmp poller vps figures / hw recommendations, it would be highly appreciated.
