use zabbix appliance for large enviroment

i use for a month zabbix vm appliance for test
now i want start using for my company (1000 device for monitoring)

is vm appliance stable for large use ?
or you recommend clean install ?
if clean install, Which Linux ?

i like it to install zabbix on a fresh linux on the distri do you like (for me it is Debian)..

think about you must administrate the Server, also use a Distri that you can handle!
