Question on LDAP

We are in the process of setting up a Zabbix system the web interface is on one server and the Zabbix server is on a different server. My security manager wants us to use LDAP so the passwords follow company policy. My question is which of these servers do the LDAP authentication?
I am looking at Zabbix 4.4 on a Linux 7.x server.

LDAP it is protocol definition like HTTP.
As long as that protocol data are handled according to what is described in exact RFCs does not matter what is the type of the LDAP server.
By this no one is asking "which one type of the HTTP server my web browser is able to handle?"

I think you miss understood the question.

I wanted to know if the LDAP query to the LDAP server would come from the zabbix_server or the zabbix_web server. We will be running one process on one VM and the other process on a second VM.

All zabbix necessary auth activity is only on web application area.
