    HA Zabbix server in AWS

    Hi Team,

We are planning to set up a 2 node HA/cluster(Active/Passive) Zabbix server and apache(10051,80) in AWS with 2 availability zones. Please suggest suitable options for the same.

    OS: Oracle Linux 7.8
    Zabbix Version: 3+

I have gone through the below blog post in the server cluster section.

High Availability cluster building with Zabbix for continued service – Zabbix Blog

I am a bit confused about the virtual internal IP configuration options in AWS. Could you please provide the options?

Is it possible to achieve a 2 node HA cluster (Port 80,10051-Active/Passive) through an elastic load balancer in AWS?

    Thanks,
    Jagadesh

    Hello.

At first I have a question about planed structure of your installation.
It will be everything on one server or you plan separate web&app&db servers?
    What will be your database?
If you plan HA solution you must start first from this point.
You can use your own installation like active/pasive db or active/active galera cluster for example or db managed by aws.
As HA for zabbix application itself you can use active/pasive solution build on Pacemaker&Corosync on linux.
You can have web on this server too or create it separatelly.
For connection to active server you can use VIP/HAproxy solution or aws load balancer or elastic IP.
Zabbix version please at least 5.0LTS.
    BUT
All this will cost a money and setup and maintenance ...
    Every instance, disks etc.
Maybe you don't need 100% SLA and standalone installation will be ok too.
It's about your need of time to recovery.
You can install it, make an images from your installation to be fast if new deployment is need.
    Or/and setup of backups.
Recovery/deployment etc in virtual enviroment can be very fast in good setup and preparation.
    For example:
You can have all on one server with independant NFS for your database.
If the AZ will crash you can just deploy your server on different AZ, mout the NFS with your db data and run.
Or use amazon managed db, it will be distributed over all 3 AZ in region and just move/redeploy your web&app server if need between zones if something goes wrong/crash/whatever.
    Simple solution with minimum care.
So, please thing about your real needs, your time, money etc.
    If some question please ask.
