ICMP Monitoring of distributed or decentralized networks over a VPN

    Good day,

We are a small startup company with no experience with Zabbix. We are trying to build a solution for simple ICPM monitoring to track uptime of network devices such as switches and access points over a VPN network for multiple sites, totaling over 5500 devices total spread over 65 locations. Each location has a proprietary server, so we are not able to install local agents. All devices are set up with a DNAT so each device has a unique IP.

Assuming that we could set up an OpenVPN client on the VM, would it be possible to use Zabbix on a cloud based platform to monitor these network devices?

Anything is possible. Pay attention to the snmp protocol (does not require an agent) and zabbix_proxy as a "point of presence" in the location.

Thank you very much. I will read up on that.
