    A simple stupid ping

    hi all

i am running zabbix 1.4.5 on debian and i can't even get zabbix to ping a machine in our domain. I tried the simple check and I tried the agent ping. I have set up the ping like found on this forum and I can ping from the debian to all possible machines and back. also fping is working on the console of debian. does anybody have an idea what this problem might be, i am getting desperate

    do other queries work?

If you have a zabbix client installed,
    say "zabbix_get -s <clientname_or_ip> -k agent.version" on the server's cmd line

Also, chekc the logfiles... maybe there's a problem with user "zabbix"'s user rights...
    Big ZABBIX is watching you!

and the rest started to work as well, i only get a 1 as reply to my ping simple check so i guess i am using the wrong value (fping) no?

The value you are getting back is correct.

        Icmpping or agent.ping returns 1 or 0, 1=successful, 0=fail..
