    Monitoring Hardware Temperature in Windows

    Hello together,

I'm new here. I've tested many Monitoring Tools. But Zabbix is the best of them.

I have installed Zabbix 1.4.5 on Ubuntu 8.04.

Now I'd like to monitor CPU temperature on a Windows machine.
    How can i do this?
Is it possible without 3rd Party Tools?

    Thanks Andreas

    No
You need 3rd party tools as windows itself does not provide this functionality.
Maybe, maaaaybe windows does support some form of generic thingie via WMI (depending on the chipset drivers), but i'd go with mbon (i think its called that) or something similar.

If you are trying to monitor a server temperature then it is likely the management software for your server will have the temperature monitored and can read it via snmp or another means.

What kind of hardware do you use?

For HP you can use HP Wbem provider, and for DELL OpenManage (XML export)

          Hello everybody,

i have almost the same problem, 'cause I want to monitor some windows (server 2003) clients. Normally these are IBM or HP servers.

in order to do this, I am trying out zabbix for the first time and I am really getting in to it Just joking. For me it is really hard to understand the whole thing around zabbix, but using google and this forum I found a lot of answers for my questions

Unfortunatelly I never found a tutorial for monitoring cpu temp. Can anyone tell me how I have to do this with the mentioned tools?

          regards
          Steffi

The first question u have to ask urself is where can i get this info ?

On some server, u can get it with snmp, on others with Dell OM. Then u can create scripts & items to get this value.

There is no generic way to get a server temperature, it would be too easy
