How to get status (up/down) for hp procurve switch

    Hi!

I'm checking our 2 hp procurve 2848 Switches via snmp.
Now i want to draw maps and include the switches in there.
When drawing the connections, i need a trigger for the status of the conn.
I thought i could set up the special trigger "status.last(0)", but that doesn't work:
No such monitored parameter (status) for host (_1erswitch)
Then i tried to ping the snmp port from my server.
Therefore i created an item "net.tcp.port[1erswitch.bfk,161]" and a trigger for it. That Trigger is always "0".

How can i get the status of the switch?

    Thx,
    Heiner

I check some HP procurve switches linkstatus by SNMP, it can be done through the ifOperStatus variable. It has a OID of: 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8.[port]

Maybe that could help you out?

That is to check the status of one of the ports.
I need the status of the complete switch.

So it's more a zabbix question than snmp, i think.
Of course i could use any variable for the "switch is up/down"-Trigger, but i'm wondering why neither the zabbix status key nor the net.tcp.port item works
