    Zabbix-Agent and esx 3.5

    Hello,

I want to monitor esx 3,5 with zabbix.
But the only packages i can find are for RHEL4 and not RHEL3 (ESX)

    Does somebody have this running?
Please provide me with some tips.

    Regards

    Hans

If ESX runs on RHEL 3 you can compile a copy on RHEL 3 if you are able, otherwise try and compile an agent on another system and link it statically. I have a hunch the static compile will be the one that will work for you. I use it when I'm using mixed RH/CentOS/SuSE environments.

Have you tried to use the RHEL4 rpm's?My guess is they will work.

We are using RHEL binaries to monitor ESX servers, not sure which rpm tho (i think it was compiled and packaged by one of our unix admins)

Which version of zabbix server are you running?

I use the binaries I complied on CentOS 4 (clone of RHEL4) on my ESX 3 and 3.5 hosts with no issues at all.

to compile the staitc binaries use the following

            ./configure --enable-agent --enable-static
