Error in web interface :Got empty string from [****] IP [****] Parameter [agent.ping]

Hi,

I have two errors :
In web interface : Got empty string from [****] IP [****] Parameter [agent.ping]
In log files : 2166:20080623:104842 Assuming that agent dropped connection because of access permissions

I don't know how to correct those errors.

It works now. The problem was a bad configuration of IP server in zabbix agent's file config.

the server ip is correct and the hostname is correct

OK, my fault.

To figure it out, run the agent in debug mode.

It told me that the IP address wasn't allowed. I fogot that I was connecting from the zabbix appliance now instead of the zabbix server on my central host. And they have different IPs, of course.

Connection issues

Can't emphasize enough how important it is to run the agent in debug mode when trying to troubleshoot connection problems. I had tunnel-vision focusing on what I thought was CERTAINLY a firewall issue when in fact (had I turned on debug sooner rather than later) I would have quickly discovered a transposed digit in my "allowed server" IP address.
