Zabbix agentd (win) eventvwr flood

Hello,

we've got a network of windows-servers and also some linux servers. Til now, we checked them all manually one after another, especially viewing the windows eventvwr.

In order to migrate to monitoring with zabbix, i added one single (windows) server for test- and learning purposes.

This server has the win zabbix agentd installed as a service.
A thing i remembered was that, as soon as the agent is started, the eventlog gets overwhelmed by notifications that the agent sent out something or whatever (no faults or warnings, just notifications).

Is there a possibility to disable the output of plain notifications by zabbix to the windows eventlog ?

You can disable logging by setting th DebugLevel to 0 in the zabbix_agentd.conf.

If you do want logging you could also set a Logfile or set DebugLevel to Warnings 3 or Error 2. Default Debug Level is Information.

have you defined a log in the zabbix_agentd.conf file on the client? If you don't, I believe it defaults to writing to the system log and therefor makes entries into the event viewer. (I may be wrong)

Try this in your zabbix_agentd.conf file and then restart the service -


Server=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
LogFile=C:\zabbix\zabbix_agentd.log

(Or wherever you want the log to be written to)

As I got my zabbix (server and agent) running now, I have to get into configuring it and stuff...

The main task for now is to monitor the disk space time-line based to be able to react on unnormal changes fast. Can you recommend me a link for that purpose (might be a bit OT)

I think by default, there is an item set up to monitor disk space on the C: drive. If you have other drives you want to monitor, simply go to configuration --> Items and click on the description of "free space on c:" then down at the bottom right of that screen, click on "clone" which will give you a window where you can edit the information. Change the drive variable to whatever drive you want to monitor. Do the "clone" function for any other drives you wish to keep an eye on.

After that step, If you want to keep trend information (running graphs) on these drives, go to Configuration --> Screens and create a screen for that server. Edit the screen and insert simple graphs. Click the item for the drive on that server.
