Cant get ANY notifications to work!

Running Zabbix 1.4.5, i've set up a trigger as follows;
(({server:icmpping.last(0)}=0) | ({server:icmpping.last(0)}#0))

with an item of;
Ping Test icmpping 30 7 7 Simple check Active

with an action;
TEST
Trigger = "Test Trigger"
Send message to User "my_username"
Enabled

On the Administration -> Notifications I get nothing, ever. all zero's.

I've scoured the forums, tried everything i could think of, i just cant get it to even TRY to send a notification.

Any ideas??

Does the user have any medias (email, sms, jabber) attached? Look at configuration of the user.

Yes, user has email address configured, but zabbix doesn't even appear to TRY to send a notification anyway.

Note that ZABBIX generates events and thus sends messages only on a trigger status change.

Update; still not working.

Still having problems, here is what i've done;

I set up an item to monitor the Zabbix agent on a remote server;
Zabbix Agent Ping agent.ping 30 7 7 ZABBIX agent Active

I set up a trigger;
Zabbix Agent Status {adbnnjvsm02:agent.ping.last(0)}=0 Not classified Enabled

and an action;
Zabbix Agent Ping Failed
Send message to Group "OSS Tools"
Enabled

The "OSS Tools" group has several users, all of which have an email address configured.

I made sure that the remote agent was running and had been for several minutes (it was green on the overview page), then I logged into the remote server and killed the agent. After 15 minutes I still haven't received an email, and theAdministration -> Notifications tab still doesnt show any activity at all, even tho the overview shows the agent as down.

am I doing something seriously wrong here??

So, you have the alerts set to be sent to that "group"?

I had the same issue and am unable to send alerts to any group I have created. However, if I send that same alert to the individuals of that group, they work.

Test it out that way.

By the way, I am using 1.5.3

I have the same problem. Media and other things are correct, because I could sends emails few days ago, but after few hours all stop working. I have testing PC which monitoring and I unplug ethernet cord and I tried check if trigger icmping change state. Trigger changed state, but mail didn't was sent. In Monitoring->Actions nothing were appear. I am using zabbix 1.4.5 on Fedora9
