    Actions do not execute!

My trigger works, but the action I have set up (just to send an email) never executes!
There is nothing listed in the "Latest Actions" tab, any ideas??

      Key Agent.ping
Type of information Numeric (Integer 64 bit)
      Units
      Use multiplier Do Not Use
      Update interval (in sec) 30
Flexible intervals (sec) No flexible intervals
New flexible interval Delay 50 Period 1-7,00:00-23:59

      Keep trends (in days) 7

      Here is the action:
      Name Zabbix Agent Restart
      Event source Triggers
      Conditions
      (A) Trigger = "Zabbix Agent Status"
      Operations
      Send message to User "radamand"
      Status Enabled

      and the trigger is simply:
      {ripper15:agent.ping.nodata(60)}=1

The user "radamand" has media defined for email, all severity levels.

Try to add the condition "Trigger value is TRUE" to the action.

          been there, done that

tried it, no difference. nothing at all happens, no actions anyway...

I cant understand why it wont execute an action when the associated trigger is definitely changing states...

yes, and I have verified that the mail server is working via command line...

although i dont think its a mail server problem since the "Latest Actions" tab never shows any activity.

                  Update

Okay, I have a small update on this issue..

                  On my host I set up a new UserParameter like this;

                  UserParameter=test.testparam,cat /tmp/xxx.txt

where the file xxx.txt contains a zero or a one (0 or 1).
I have also set up a new Item, Trigger, and Action to send me an email whenever the item becomes zero.
All of this part works great, I set the value in the file to zero and I get an email!!! But, the Simple "Zabbix Agent Ping" Item, Trigger, and Action I had set up before still will not send an email when the trigger goes True.

                  BTW- This is Zabbix 1.4.5

The trigger you have setted runs only when the ping doesn't receive data from the agent, probably this never occur...maybe is better you do this : agent.ping.last(0)=0

if the agent dies it does...

                        not sure why but....

For some reason, whenever I use "Trigger =" in my actions the action does NOT work.

If I use "Trigger Description Like", and then copy/paste in the name of the trigger it works fine.

Is this a bug or what??

I think the culprit is when you use the Templates for the trigger instead of the host itself. For example:

I use the standard Linux_Server Template trigger to tell me if the host is unreachable
                              Code:
Trigger = "Server Template_Linux is unreachable"
                              OR

I use the host defined trigger to tell me if the host ist unreachable.
                              Code:
Trigger = "Server Zabbix Server is unreachable"
I would hypothesize that Zabbix is searching for the specific string in the text box. So if it is looking for the trigger “Server Template_Linux is unreachable” it will never find it because there is no host named Template_Linux. There is, however, a host named Zabbix Server and that trigger will be found.

I decided to use the "like" condition and just the meat of the trigger, i.e. no host name:
                              Code:
                              Trigger description like "is unreachable"

This is just a guess but it sounds reasonable and that's worth a lot more than it should be.
