error starting zabbix_agentd.exe in windows xp

    error starting zabbix_agentd.exe in windows xp

    hello


    i already download the agent for windows
    and now here i got an error:


    c:\\zabbix_agentd.exe --start
    zabbix_agentd.exe [1888]: ERROR: Cannot start service named 'ZABBIX agent' [The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.


    does anyone know this error

    Can you see the service listed through the control panel?

    It would be helpful if you posted your zabbix_agentd.conf file from that machine.

      thanks for your reply, based on the instruction i create zabbix_agentd.conf file in the windows xp i just put it in the drive c. and also i extracted the agent file it consists of zabbix_agentd.exe, zabbix_get.exe and zabbix_sender.exe. sunce i create a file of zabbix_agentd.conf i noticed there is no content inside of that file...

      please guide how to do...

        Have you downloaded the Zabbix reference manual? I would suggest doing so if you haven't.

        The sequence for the agent install is to create zabbix_agentd.conf and place in the root of C:

        The contents of this file should minimally be this (Case sensitive!)

        Server=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx <-- IP of Zabbix server
        LogFile=c:\zabbix\zabbix_agentd.log

        Next, create the C:\zabbix directory and place your executable files in it. Pop a DOS prompt for that directory and type in zabbix_agentd -i and after that completes type in zabbix_agentd -s
