Alerts to different people ?

Hi,

Is it possible to send notifications to different people, depending on the server/service that has a problem ?
Only the person who is responsible for a certain server should be woken up at night when something goes wrong, and not the whole team :-)

If not standard in Zabbix, what is the best practice to build this functionality without having to much administration outside zabbix ? Anyone has done this before ?

You could create two actions, one that works during normal working hours where the whole team gets an alert, and one for after hours, where just the desired individual gets an alert. This can be done with the time period condition when configuring an action. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm afraid it can't be done that way, because there are different people for different servers.
If server 1 goes down, technical contact 1 should be contacted
if server 2 goes down, technical contact 2 should be contacted
...
And there are more servers & contacts than there are severity levels :-)

Any thoughts ?

The action could be defined on a per server basis, but that will get messy pretty fast. Other than that, I don't know of another way to accomplish what you would like to do. An example:

Server 1 and Server 2 have an action from 8:00 to 17:00 that notifies the entire team.

Server 1 has an action from 17:01 to 7:59 that notifies admin 1
Server 2 has an action from 17:01 to 7:59 that notifies admin 2

That would be accomplished with the host= condition for the action.
