    E-MAIL Alert

    Guys.

    I have set up an email alert which is working ok when a trigger happens i get the email to inform me. BUT i get the same email alert when the trigger returns to normal.

    I have enabled the recovery message and have put a tick in the box for it but i never get it, only the original message.

    Any ideas what the hell is going on. For me Zabbix is perfect but this email alert thing is really getting to me. If i can sort it out everything will be cool

    Default Message is below

    {HOSTNAME} : {TRIGGER.NAME} : {EVENT.DATE} : {EVENT.TIME}

    ***** Withers Monitoring *****

    -- This Alert is Active --

    Notification Type: {TRIGGER.SEVERITY}
    Host: {HOSTNAME}
    State: {TRIGGER.NAME}
    Address: {IPADDRESS}

    Date/Time: {EVENT.DATE} : {EVENT.TIME}

    Recovery Message below

    {HOSTNAME} : {TRIGGER.NAME} : {EVENT.DATE} : {EVENT.TIME}

    ***** Withers Monitoring *****

    -- This Alert is NOT Active (Recovery) --

    Notification Type: {TRIGGER.SEVERITY}
    Host: {HOSTNAME}
    State: {TRIGGER.NAME}
    Address: {IPADDRESS}

    Date/Time: {EVENT.DATE} : {EVENT.TIME}
    =======

    So as you can see both the default message and the recovery message are different but if the host is up or down i just get the default message.

    Can anyone help me fix this please

    Craig

      Ok guys. after following a post in the Alpha section i seem to have it working.

      If i give the email alert a condition of Trigger value = "PROBLEM" then i get the problem email and then the recovery message.

      Can someone confirm if this is the correct thing to do?

      Also again i am disappointed with the lack of documentation on this and other areas of Zabbix.

      anyway enough of my frustrations , but if someone can confirm if what i have done is correct.

      Many thanks

        Thats exactly what I did for this problem.

        This is actually a good thing, I have an action set up to notify me of lost "MySQL connection for last 5 minutes", and then another one that tells me "MySQL connection restored", they both use the same trigger, just one action is "True" and one is "False".

        works great!

          Multiple recovery messages ?

          Hi

          I am doing the same thing and it works fine, except for one annoyance:

          The recovery message is send several (from 3 to 9) times !

          I think this should be fixed.

          The only way to avoid sending the recovery message several times
          is to use escalations.

          Regards

          Norbert.

            Same issue here (1.6.2).
            Recovery notifications are sent multiple times.

            How can I solve this?

              I think this is related to/caused by the trigger "Event Generation" being set to "Normal + Multiple TRUE Events".

              If I have it set to plain "Normal" this doesnt happen.

              I consider this a bug in zabbix as it should NOT behave this way.

                Event generation is already set to "Normal" in that trigger.

                  Was anyone able to resolve the issue of multiple recovery messages? I'm having the same problem with 1.6.2 and all of my triggers are set to "Normal".

                  For example, I just had an outage where 7 triggers fired and I got the problem notifications fine, but then when the services came back up I got about 200 recovery notifications. I'm attaching a screenshot of the Action config that caused it. There's nothing odd visible in the server logs with DebugLevel=3 so I'll try it at 4 and look for anything obvious next time it happens.

                        Same problem here -

                        Zabbix Server version 1.6.5
                        All triggers set to normal mode

                        Is there a more official way to file this as a bug? It seems to happen randomly for me and it is ONLY recovery messages.

                          I think I fixed it for our installation here. We are using 1.6.4 on Ubuntu 9.10 (Ubuntu packages).

                          I was receiving the multiple recovery messages. I then went into the action config, unchecked the "Recovery Message" option, saved, went back in and re-checked the option, saved again. Viola! Duplicates gone. YMMV, but this seemed to do the trick for us.

                          HTH

                          P.S. Still seems like a bug to me...
