1.5.4 to 1.6

Hi! How can I upgrade database structure to the latest 1.6 state? I was using 1.5b nightly build from 25.09.08.

AFAIK you can either follow 2 paths.

1.
- make a schema only mysqldump from your 1.5
- Create a new db (temp), import create sql from 1.4.x and apply the 1.6 patch
- manually compare the differences and fix the database

2.
- make full dump (backup) of 1.5 + data only dump
- drop database / create new database
- import create sql from 1.4.x + apply 1.6 patch
- import data only dump
- when error occurs, fix error, rinse , repeat

I think option 1 is preferable

Tell me there is a better (aka easier) way to do this. I was kinda expecting a db upgrade for those of us who went the 1.5 route as well as for those who stayed with 1.4. Any hopes of this happening??

1.5 is a development tree.
Its not uncommon that within a development tree the schema changes are non-sequential.

Thats why stable->stable upgrades are guaranteed, and development->stable are not.

I just used the db patch from 1.4 to 1.6, commenting any lines which caused an SQL "table/field already exist" errors.

i did the way i posted on http://www.zabbix.org/forum/showpost...94&postcount=6 thread and worked for 1.5.3 -> 1.6.1

I think it should work the same way from 1.5.x to 1.6.x
