    Upgrade from 1.1.7 version

    Hello
I actually have three zabbix servers at 1.1.7 version.
Can I upgrade directly from version 1.1.7 to 1.4.6 or 1.6?
    What need I do?
I need only apply database patch (in upgrades directory) or i need do something else?

(Of course i will recompile zabbix servers and clients).
    I am using Mysql database.

    Thanx for any reply.

    Hal

Database schema must be upgraded to 1.4 first, then to 1.6. Upgrade scripts can be found under upgrades/dbpatches.

as noted, upgrade to 1.4, then to 1.6.
but make sure to use upgrade scripts from rev 6091 for 1.6 branch or 6092 for trunk - or wait for 1.6.1 (there's a problem fixed for such an upgrade path)

We just attempted this upgrade path the other evening from 1.1.6 but had to back out due to some non-Zabbix related issues. We were only able to do the 1.1.x - 1.4.x schema upgrade and didn't have any issues.

We will be reattempting the upgrade this Wednesday evening (Pacific time) and can update more after that upgrade is complete.

Our update was performed last night and overall went well.

The biggest gotchas we had were the change in the aggregate function syntax and permissions model. After doing the 1.4 schema upgrade I had to manually update the MySQL table to allow my user administrator privelage. This forum post helped me find the answer http://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6252

We also had a strange error where the Zabbix server up and crashed for no reason. The Zabbix log didn't have anything useful but it complained about freeing a resource that was already freed. We have not seen it since however.

Thank you for your message. We are aware of the problem with aggregate checks, it will be fixed before 1.6.1.

As for the crash, it happens randomly on some systems. Unfortunately we do not know what causes this yet.
