    Monitoring Windows services

    Hi,

Could someone please help - how to monitor windows services? How to configure zabbix_agentd.conf? I tried to use service_state but it failed... What is the correct syntax? Maybe someone could print an example? Really need help on this one...

you dont put the service_state[] check in the agent.conf file, you put it as the key when you create an item for a host or template.

In the template for windows there is an example of a service check. If you upgraded from an older version you may want to get the newest template from the wiki.

        Thx swaterhouse...

So I create an item with key: service_state[MSSQLSERVER].
Then I create trigger: {server:service_state[MSSQLSERVER].last(0)}=6 - is that correct?

You said that I don't have to put check in agentd.conf - but how the agent will now what info to send to zabbix server?

            yes that looks okay.

The agent knows because the server asks the agent to run that command.

Also, there is a template in the wiki (and I am pretty sure its included in new installs of 1.4 and higher) for MS SQL Server. It is by no means fully feature complete but it does monitor the most important performance minotors and the services.

thx again but now I have another problem...
I found default template (service_state[Dhcp]) so I enabled it but then I received an error - Cannot connect to [IPort] [Interrupted system call] and all other triggers (DNS, E-mail... e.t.c using simple check) became gray....

When I created new item service_state[some_service] and trigger It was not working, still other triggers were working...

What could be the problem? Swaterhouse could you please drop link to wiki template (I couldn't find it)

not sure about that error other than are you sure the DHCP service is on the server being monitored?

here is the link to the wiki - the templates are all on the "Templates" page
