Sync Ubuntu Time with a Windows Server

    Guys,

I know this is not a Zabbix issue but is related to Zabbix in a round about way.

I would like to sync the time on my Ubuntu install with my Primary Domain Controller which is a windows server 2003 box.

On windows it is easy net time blah blah blah but how can i do the same on Ubuntu

    Cheers

    ...samba

    Hi,

    install Samba:

"sudo apt-get install samba" (hope this will be enough)

then do the time synchronisation via crontab, eg. once per day at 0:00h:

    "0 0 * * * /usr/bin/net TIME SET"

    Works for me ;o)

    Cheers

You could also just use ntpdate which is installed on most distros per default: ntpdate ip.address.to.server

        Windows NTP Server

        Hello!

By default, Windows does not start an NTP-compliant time server that any client can poll for time values.

You have to change the server type to NTP and the server´s auto-update time client to NTP, also.
