What's the best way to monitor Dell Hardware

With Zabbix V1.4 we were forced to monitor our Dell HW by using SNMP.

Now we have Zabbix V1.6 which comes with direkt IPMI support but also dynamic SNMP indexing.

AFAIK, the data given by SNMP comes through IPMI, so i suppose it's better to use IPMI and forget the SNMP thing. Or what are the Pro's for SNMP?

I'm no SNMP/IPMI expert so i hope you can help me out a bit!

    Thanks,

    Heiner

I´m still using the snmp with Dell Open Manage installed on the machines, as this is very simple to use and the templates are already setup in zabbix.

What are the benefits of IPMI?
    Are there templates already there?

I haven't found any tutorial/howto for setting up IPMI-Items in Zabbix yet.
Maybe someone knows one or could write it?
