SNMP interface values incorrect?

I am not sure why. But my interface values are incorrect when testing with the Dell 5324 template.

I have put in the SNMPv2 community for the switches I am testing into the template to get it working. It looks to be grabbing data correctly. However it shows interface 2 as:

ifInOctets.2 03 Nov 15:47:52 1.50 Mbps

I know that the port is pushing about 100 mbit/s into the port based on the server and another polling software.

Is this a known issue or have I missed a step in setup?

Both are incorrect and are not even close to the real throughput of the port.

As far as I checked the default Dell 5324 template on Zabbix 1.6, A value 'Custom multiplier' must be 8 not 0.125.

Because normally ifXOctets is a counter of the total number of octets, or normaly bytes, so if we need bps we have to convert this bytes into bits with multiplier 8 (and Delta).

Is it default template's mistake?

Beware of ALL Templates

Akatsuki is correct. Change 'Custom Multiplier' to 8. You may also need to clean the history for that item or host, otherwise your graphs may be distorted.

IMHO, most of the templates have errors. Look at the templates for snmpv1, snmpv2c, C3750-48TS, Cisco-2960, just for starters. They look to me to be measuring In/OutOctets incorrectly.

Most, if not all, templates are user-made. Whether anyone at the Zabbix team actually takes the time to check them or apply them for testing, I don't know.

I've often wondered who would be interested in a graph of an interface that's a) in bytes per second and b) not being stored as a delta, so is nonsense anyway.
