The answer is yes you can, you just need to give the account "log on as a service" right.
My question is why would you want to do this? The only reason I can see would be to run external scripts, otherwise I would not recommend it.
May I ask why you wouldn't recommend it?
Apparently it is an MS "best practice" and it is being pushed by our security admins to fall into compliance with our auditing constraints.
Personally, I would rather keep it at the local service account. if you could give me any good reasons not to run it as a domain service account, I will pass that info on.
