    MySQL load is very high

    Hello,

I have Zabbix server 1.4.2 running with only three hosts configured and while it's working fine, the mysql process is always extremely high. I've read various posts about tweaking performance but even after following them it's not any better.

Am I better off using Postgres? Is there something else I can do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
    6846 mysql 20 0 1095m 413m 3952 S 2 20.5 547:21.41 mysqld

    Kind regards,

Same for me. New installation (1.6.1) was running fine for ~19h then the load exploded.

May we have output of "mysqladmin processlist"?

MySQL load is absolutely fine. May I have output of the "top" command as well?

The load is ~15-18. I can't imagine that this is ok?

Attached the top output...around 80% of the process are mysqld.

we have to tried to tune the server params with no success:
                  --key_buffer_size=64M --table_cache=256 --sort_buffer_size=16M --read_buffer_size=16M

attached is some stats for the select statements (we see extensive joins).
