    Server going down

I just wanted to know what would happen if I shutdown my zabbix server for some time. (I may have to do this sometime soon when I will be shifting my server to another room).
Also what happens when one of the servers that Zabbix is monitoring goes down for some reason?
What does Zabbix do in these situations?

when you shut down the zabbix server the process itself gets transfered to the battery powered UPS system if you have one, if not it locates the closest battery source and plants itself there.

when a server you are monitoring goes down, xabbix will do 7 situps, and then will notify you if you asked her to do so.

First poster was just having some fun (besides, Zabbix prefers to do pushups).

If you shutdown Zabbix, all the servers with agents will keep trying to find the Zabbix server to send their data. They won't be able to, and no more data will be collected. The agents will just keep trying until the Zabbix server appears again.

If Zabbix is running, and a monitored server goes down, then Zabbix will keep trying to find that missing server, and indicate this on the Hosts page. No new data will come in from that host, the items for that host will stay on, and no triggers will go off (unless you set a trigger to detect a downed host). Zabbix will keep collecting data for other hosts, all the while waiting for the downed host to return. Once it does, Zabbix queues its checks, and everything returns to normal (with a gap in that host's history). I have run into some problems with Zabbix waiting for items in the queue to finish, and the items were for a downed host. So Zabbix puts off the other items while waiting, and every host has gaps in their history. I would suggest you turn off monitoring for the downed host to prevent this.
