    Templates vs. web monitoring

I have the responsibility of monitoring several dozen web servers that are seen from the Internet at large as a single web server (behind a load balancer). Because they need to appear as a single server, all I need to do is send the same URL to each such web server, something like:

    http://{HOSTNAME}/cgi-bin/deeptest.pl

If it was part of the Template framework, the Web monitoring in Zabbix would be absolutely perfect for what I need, but web monitoring is not included in Templates. I would simply create a template which consisted of solely this (and other) Web items and triggers, and my life would be happy.

I can't believe that I'm the only one who's got an issue with this. Is there another way to accomplish this without manually entering an entire Web Scenario for each host?

The last time I brought this up, it was suggested that this functionality would appear in 1.6. Where is it?

Actually we hoped to include support of templates for WEB monitoring into 1.6. Now it is postponed to 1.8.

Well, that's a bummer, but thanks for the confirmation.

I would love to have this option included too !

Right now, it's quite a hassle to have to create a new scenario for each new website you want to monitor, especially when you have the same checking pattern for each of them..

            WEB Templates a MUST!!!

I am disappointed to hear that WEB templates will not be available in 1.6, hope to see 1.8 very soon. The lack of web templates is causing considerable problems.

We are monitoring a production Apache2 web server with Zabbix and are very pleased with the result.

We use an Apache2 template and a PERL script and it all works quite well.

Another upvote for this. I voted on the feature request but bumping this thread for some more visual.

We have hundreds of servers in clusters and are deploying Zabbix as part of our SLA reporting. This would be a killer feature for us.

We're currently working on scripts to workaround the issue and use zabbix_sender but it will be less than ideal.

Thanks again for the hardwork and excellent code produced for Zabbix!
