    Escalations...

    Hi,

I'm adminning a zabbix setup of ~100 monitored machines for nearly 2 years. Seen many versions, starting from 1.1 if i'm not mistken. If i had a problem or needed to rtfm on something - Docs & forums usually helped it all.
This time, that just doesn't cut it - Escalations... The 1.6.1 rev 016 Doc file is written horribly, on Steps & Actions configuration:

"Depending on configuration, ZABBIX will automatically escalate (increase escalation step) unresolved problems and executed actions assigned to each escalation step."
    ...
    "Parameter Description
Step If escalation is enabled for this action, escalation settings:
From – execute for each step starting from this one
To – till this (0, for all steps starting from From)
Period – increase step number after this period,
    0 – use default period."

    I mean, what?!?!
What are Periods inside a step, what does it have to do with the Period in main action screen, what is the Delay, a simple configuration example maybe?
Forums are not much help on this either...

    Anyone?

I have to agree. That is one of the things that is lacking the most with Zabbix is its documentation and having examples to work from.

In my situation, I think I'm going to downgrade back to v1.6 because with 1.6.1 with escalations enabled, my emails were not being sent out. Strange!

Also, I am not sure either the difference between the period on the left and the period on the right.

          Hi geno,

I want to add this time period to an action condition:

Trigger from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 AM to 14:00 PM.

          Thanks.
