No notifications! please help

I upgraded from 1.4 to 1.6. Everything worked fine in 1.4 but oh the lure of new features.

After much head scratching I got everything working or so it seemed. However, events do not get emailed.

I see them on the monitor and on the Events Tab.
Under Admin Notifications Tab I do not see the Event count going up as events happen. It is like it is lost in between.

Also and likely related is this error:
Undefined index: show_events_status[/home/zabbix/web/tr_status.php:199]
which is on the Monitoring Triggers Tab

Any ideas?

The notification problem had to do with 1.4 still being run on start command. Really strange why this is not cleaned up on install. I went in and deleted all the old zabbix-server and zabbix_server files now starts in 1.6 and notifications work.

I still have:

which is on the Monitoring Triggers Tab
