    Win32 ESXi Guest running Agent

Has anyone else had problems running the zabbix agent on a Win32 ESX virtual machine?

The agent installs properly and the service gets all set up, but none of the items from the agent make it to the server. Simple checks work fine.

    Server log shows:
    4853:20081219:153654 Timeout while answering request
4853:20081219:153654 Get value from agent failed. Error: Cannot connect to [IND-VWSRP:10050] [Interrupted system call]
4853:20081219:153654 Host [IND-VWSRP] will be checked after 60 seconds
    4853:20081219:153759 Timeout while answering request

4853:20081219:153759 Host [IND-VWSRP] will be checked after 60 seconds

    Agent log shows:

    Example item:
    vfs.fs.size[c:\,free]

Got the following when doing a manual check
    zabbix_agentd.exe -t vfs.fs.size[c:\,free] -c c:\zabbix\zabbix_agentd.conf
    vfs.fs.size[c:\,free] [u|5257437184]

I've got other Windows machines being monitored with the same items properly from the server (1.4.4) which are physical boxes.

    Thanks,
    - DF

More than 2/3 of my servers are ESX guests - ESX is not the issue.

Can you telnet to\from the server and the agent on ports 10050\10051? Looks like its a firewall issue to me.

      Firewall

Adding exceptions for zabbix in the firewall fixed the issue. I think I overlooked the fact that this particular system was set up by a different method than the physical boxes.

      Thanks for the help!
