Scripts - Media Type - Actions

    Hi all,

I'm using Zabbix1.1alpha10 and need to associate a script media type with a trigger, through the actions. I recorded the script in media type, but in Actions(actions.php) only show me email option, there isn't the script option.

Somebody knows about ? I did the right thing ?

    Thank's !!

You didn't mention this so I have to ask, but did you set up which users will be notified by the script? You mentioned looking in Actions, and I assume you were checking to see which forms of media were used when a trigger was tripped. Unless you tell Zabbix who is using the new type of media, and for what levels of alerts, it can't use it.

If you're having another problem, please describe the error and process you are using.

      Thank you

      Thank's Nate !

Great tip! Now works fine. A last question: this relation user x script(media) is one to one ? I have to create an user for each script or can have more than one script to each user ?

      Thank's again!

        Glad that helped!

Each user can have any number of media types associated with them, and each media type can be set to be triggered at a certain day and time of day, and with certain alert levels. For instance, I have a script that calls people and plays them a message when one of our important servers goes down. I want the script to activate only on disaster level triggers, and only in the evenings on week days, and any time on weekends.

To do this, I have two medias under each user that wants to be alerted. One that goes Mon-Fri (1-5) and between 5pm and 8am (17:00-08:00), and another that goes Sat and Sun (6-7) all day (00:00-23:99). A final media type, such as email, is set for Mon-Fri (1-5) from 8am - 5pm (08:00-17:00), and it will alert us during normal office hours.

So, you can absolutely give a user multiple media types because it ensures users will get their messages at any time.

        Nate
