    Traffic monitoring

    Hello!
I want to collect information about network traffic in GB per month. Is there any way to do it in zabbix ? What is important for me, that the traffic accounting will be preserved over machine restarts.

I'm working on some similar scripts right now myself. I posted in the cookbook area a stored procedure for MySQL which will return a total from items stored as deltas.

The most accurate method however is to setup a key that polls the switch or whatever traffic monitor you use and have it store the actual number, not the delta. Since you'll need to store this for a while for your reporting purposed poll it ever 30 minutes or so and store it for 60 days and trend for 90. Then you can run a script that will look at the first nearest value to the start of the month and the nearest value to the end of the month and return the difference between the two.

Otherwise I'll try and post what I have of the script this weekend.

Alternatively you may use hourly average values multiplied by 3600 from table trends. This would give you pretty precise information about amount of transferred traffic.
