Agent on a Mac System

Hi,

I want to install an agent on a Mac.
Must I compile the agent on a Mac or can I use the Linux agent?

Hi Ben,

It's possible to install the zabbix_agent on Mac OS X (not v9), but it requires compiling from source.

To do this, you down to download and install the latest XCode developer tools from Apple:

http://developer.apple.com/tools/xcode/

This is a free download, but you will need to register first. Once this package has been installed, follow the instructions in the documentation section of the Zabbix site as per a linux source install!

Alternatively, setup simple checks to test that services such as Samba, Apache and Mail are running by connecting to the network port - that avoids having a local client at all!
