what makes hostgroup show on dashboard

I have a new hostgroup. It has only one host in it at the moment. created a template for it and item, and trigger is simply for a POP simple check
    (pop,ip,port). Also an Action.

The hostgroup does not appear on Dashboard .

Also the hostgroup fails to appear in the pull down on the config triggers screen. All other hostgrroups appear when I click on the GROUP pulldown on that screen.

iT does apear if I look at config - hostgroups and has the one host assocaited with it.

What makes the others special, or why does this one get left out. Is it because it simply has one item and it is a simple check?

I would check that the user you are viewing the dashboard with has access to see the host/host group in question. I would also check that the trigger is enabled. Those are the two areas I always check when a host group has gone missing
        Version : 1.8.8
