Agent install on CentOS 4.x 5.x Howto

    Hello All,

Ok .. so I have spent the better part of the weekend reading all 320 pages of the Zabbix manual PDF and find some ref. to the Zabbix agents however ZERO on how to install and or compile if needed .. There has to be a easy way to do this as I have over 120 CentOS based servers I need to deploy this tool on.

    Help !

This has been talked about 10 too many times...

The install instructions are in the manual and more discussions in great detail are in the wiki and in the forums.

Thanks for the reply, If this is the case then its NOT clear and or far to hard to clearly understand the process which I would bet is a good reason why its been talked about WAY to many times.

Easy install of Agent on Linux Server

          Your lucky day or what?

I put together a Zabbix Agent install walk-thru for Centos last month, then I gave it to one of our IT team to test it. He has no previous experience with Zabbix, and little experience with Linux, but managed to install several agents without problem.

Now it's your turn. I just put it on the wiki 10 minutes ago.

          Hope it helps!

There are 1.4.6 RPMs for CentOS 4 and 5 on EPEL.

If you want 1.6.x RPMs you can just use the spec file from EPEL's 1.4.6 RPMs and "rpmbuild" your own zabbix-agent-1.6.2 package. That's what we did here.

zabbix-agent-1.6 + a custom 'zabbixscripts' RPM for UserParameters and we have puppet install/update/configure everything.
