    monitoring APC SmartUPS

    I have downloaded the xml file that was posted by someone for APC UPSes and have imported it into Zabbix. I then created a host with the IP of the UPS and linked it to the template that was created for the APC_UPS. However, it says that you need a .sh script and daemon to run this and I was wondering if anyone could tell me where/how to install those?

    I'm new to linux so I was having trouble figuring out where these needed to be to make it all work.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

    I'm using the standard Templates for APC, I´think I got if from the zabbix wiki.
    I´m sure that I do not run any .sh command.
    This works by snmp.
    But maybe what you have found is something, that acts on smtp traps
    generated by the UPS traps. This would need a .sh script probably.

      I wonder if this is the same thing that I imported yesterday. The description just had two links one of which was the .sh script and then the other was the xml file.
      I imported the XML and I can see the new triggers, etc. but when I make a new host I don't see it show up on the monitoring page. Is there a way I can get it to show there so I can see that the UPS is up? Or do you have a link to the one you're using?

      Thanks.

          Try the APC Battery Backup Unit Template. No scripts involved. Just link the host to the Template and your off.

          It is an snmp template, and as it says on the Wiki-Templates, your UPS will need to have a network management card installed.

              When importing that xml I get the following two errors:

              * Incorrect trigger expression. [{t_APCBattery:upsAdvReplaceBatteryIndicator.last(0 )}#1 ]

              * XML error: not well-formed (invalid token) at line 128

                okay, I have it showing 2 things on the overview page now green (Loss of imput power and high battery temperature) and I suppose that's all I need. Thanks.
