I see 1.8 is going to have some downtime functionality. From what I am reading in the forums and the manual, this is possible with IT services. What's the difference?

...and don't call me Bueller! ;-)
It doesn't help with your downtime numbers, but purely from a standpoint of not getting alerts at certain hours, here's what I did. We have Citrix servers (on Windows) that reboot every night between 4am and 5am. On those actions, I send the alert to a user called Citrixadmin and set the time on that user like this:
1-7,00:00-03:58;1-7,05:02-23:59;
I gave it 2 extra minutes on either side of the downtime because I don't want to wake up unless something is really down... My other alerts go to a different user (or users) and they are 24/7 but since I know for a fact the Citrix servers will be down between 4am and 5am I blocked that out of that user's setup. Now I don't hear my phone going off for each Citrix server every time it reboots.
I know it doesn't help your stats but at least it doesn't wake you up and gives you a scheduled downtime when you won't receive alerts. Hope that helps a little, I'm a Zabbix newbie so I can't help much - yet. I've been running a demo box on and off since Dec. but I'm installing on my real server today.

Speaking on similar topic - for most of my triggers I don't want notifications going to my phone during the night (that would be easily done by specifying appropriate time window(s)), but I want to receive them when that time window expires. I.e., if something has happened during the night, I would like to get the notification(s) at 8AM or whenever. Sort of delayed notification - is there a way to do this?Comment
