    Am I configuring Actions properly?

I am simply trying to test notification, but just can't get it to email me. Under notifications, it's all zeros.

I have defined a user, media. I have setup the zabbix server itself as the host with template_linux, and I have define the condition Trigger = "/etc/passwd has been changed on server ZABBIX Server". My user is set to receive all levels of severity.

After changing , nothing. No change in the server.

    What am I doing wrong?

      E-mail

      Hi

I am still having issues with e-mail notifications. I followed the directions to the tee from tchjts1 instructions. I go it to work for a few notifications then boom it stoped. Then the other day it shot out 2 notifications. I have created triggers and set them off to test e-mail notification. I really need to get this to work, it is my only problem from having this be our Monitor Solution. Pleas someone help!!!

Have a look in the GUI at -> Administration -> Audit

Select "Audit actions" in drop down at top right...

What does it say? Maybe your problem is related to the mail-server and not to zabbix?

        Cheers

        RĂ¼

PS: We have seen "dropped eMail Actions" when our mailhost was updated to a new version with slightly different settings... .

          Hi Rue,

I attached Screenshots on how it is configured. I am new to this and maybe I am doing something wrong. Also I just set up postfix on the Zabbix Server (ubuntu) What would be a good mail program to use that is easy to set up?

I really appreicate any help thanks

            sbarnett -

Try some very basic, simple triggers and see if they are working for you on a regular basis. In one of your screenshots, I would like to see what you have for "Configuration of actions" and to the right "Action operations". You didn't have that box expanded in your previous e-mail.

Keep in mind that my screenshots are from 1.5.3 and will vary slightly depending on your version. So for example, expand your Action Operations as mine is below.

              ScreenShot

Here is a screen shot. My thinking is that I should get a notifcation because my POP3 server is down also if I stop and start the E-Mail Server. Now I have gotten some e-mails when I stopped the E-mail Server, but not everytime. So I know it does work but not like it should. I should be getting e-mails for the other triggers I created to test (prior screen shots).

                Ok Got one

Ok I got a notification when I stoped and started my e-mail server.

Nothing on the POP3 trigger. I also just added the follwing trigger

                Trigger severity = "Average"

So my thought is if the a trigger severity is average say like the POP3 then I should get Notification.

Do I need to stop the zabbix-server and zabbix-agent after I set up Actions?

Looks like your triggers are 4 days old though. If it were me, I would restart zabbix-server and zabbix-agent and see what it throws in the way of alerts.

                    Working for now

I have managed to get 2 triggers to work SSHD and E-mal Server. When I stop and start these services I get alerts. Which is great finally. I am going to try some windows hosts and see if I can trigger some responses like low memory or drive space. If it don't work I'll be back.

Other wise I want to say Thank you for all your help.

Just an aside... you shouldn't have to restart the Zabbix server or agent for items that you change in the frontend. Those should be immediate.

However, if you make any changes on the host to the agentd.conf file (like adding userparameters), then you would need to restart the agent for it to take effect.

                      Good luck on the triggers.
