    help for mail problem

I need some help for mail problem. I have configured media and set the Action for trigger when password file is changed, it will send a mail to me.

I could see the msg in Alert section...but it is not able to send mail. Screen shot is pasted below

    HTML Code:
Time Type Status Recipient(s) Subject Message
2005.Jul.21 12:21:10 Test not sent [email protected] /passwd has been changed on server bwgd251
     INSERT YOUR MESSAGE HERE

    ------Latest data------

Checksum of /etc/passwd: 1216843520 (latest value)
Checksum of /etc/passwd: 1216843520 (maximum value for last 5 min)
Checksum of /etc/passwd: 1216843520 (minimum value for last 5 min)

    ---------End--------

2005.Jul.14 18:09:18 Test not sent [email protected] /passwd has been changed on server bwgd251
     INSERT YOUR MESSAGE HERE

    ------Latest data------

Checksum of /etc/passwd: 331694254 (latest value)
Checksum of /etc/passwd: 331694254 (maximum value for last 5 min)
Checksum of /etc/passwd: 331694254 (minimum value for last 5 min)

    ---------End--------
Please let me know if I will have to configure something on my hosts, so that it can send mail to some external email address.

    Thanks, Rajeev

    Greetings,

I am assuming that you have configured the SMTP information correctly in Zabbix under general / media types?

For these settings, I suggest using a remote server to act as your mail server, rather than the Zabbix server itself.

Anyway, to troubleshoot this issue, go to the server that you have configured as your SMTP server and look at the mail logs, to see if the messages are even getting to the mail server. If the messages are getting there, then the next thing to do would be to manually generate a test email from that server to your self, using the -v option to see if it is getting to the mail server that you use to host your mail.

      Thanks James.

I was giving a wrong name of my SMTP server.
