web monitoring & mail notifications

Hi guys. I`m really sorry to ask a dumb question but i badly need an urgent suggestion. The situation i have :
* i have media configured ( mail server)
* i have a couple of hosts defined to monitor different groups of web-pages
* i believe i don`t have mailing "action" configured properly
* i don`t have anything but '0' in administration -> notifications


There`s a huge number of web-pages , how can be the mailing action configured properly? can you suggest a trigger definition?
I will really appreciate your help, i just came from the nagios , so it`s totally new to me.

I use triggers like this one, for Web scenarios:

{host:web.test.fail[scenario name].min(#5)}>0

web.test.fail returns contains the ID of the fist step that failed in the given scenario.

0 ==> all steps were successful
1 ==> first step failed
2 ==> first step was OK but second step failed
...

So essentially if web.test.fail returns > 0 then something went wrong.

{host:web.test.fail[scenario name].min(#5)}>0

This trigger means "If the last 5 attempts at running the scenario all failed [that is to say: at least one the step failed in each one of the five atempts]".


We don't use a specific Action for web test. We just have a single generic action as there's only a single group of poor chaps to be notified.

If you wan't extra control over response codes, response time... there are additional items available but we just set the response code and timeout at each step so that zabbix_server does the magic.

Thanks a lot!! it helped, i now get the mail alerts. But one more question left :
I have "action" configured to send the mail with the following content :
"{TRIGGER.NAME} triggered an alert: {STATUS}" (default one)
trigger is this : host.com:web.test.fail[host.com Main Page]. last( 0 ) }=1
so i get a mail like this: test triggered an alert: ON/OFF

how can i make alerts more informative? It`s really desired that an alert would show the expected IIS answer, and the one that test failed with. ( i mean the status - 200, 302 .. )

I don`t know if it has any chances to be configured using a single "action", becouse we have quite a lot of web pages to monitor.

Please suggest something, thanks!!

Fill the "Comment" field of the trigger with useful information and use the {TRIGGER.COMMENT} macro in your action ?

I hope you are there again.
I want to configure zabbix for send an email in case of alert.
* I configure the user with there email adress
*The Media type Email
* The action whith a step for send mail to the specific user.
I still get nothing.
I read the post here but i can't understand how you manage to did it.
Please can you explain me more.

The user Admin have read and write right on all host.
I configure the media type like this

I didn't even get notifications in the menu notifications
when I consult the detail of an events for message actions is still no actions found.

but if steps are independed and if failed 1st and 4th steps?

Can you (or someone else) please let me know how to use web.test.rspcode as additional information in an Action?

I'd like to include the actual response code returned from a failed web step in the action(s) triggered. Thanks!
