    New icmpping Problem (1.6.4)

    Hi all,

I have zabbix running on a Debian 5.0 (Lenny) machine. Everything works fine except of icmpping and icmppingsec checks.

In some other posts I read something concerning permissions and/or the -S parameter for fping.

Permissions checked and fping supports the -S parameter.

When i look into /var/log/zabbix-server/zabbix-server.log, I can see the icmpping-checks like this:

    10.50.56.3 : [1], 84 bytes, 0.00 ms (0.00 avg, 0% loss)
    10.50.56.32 : [0], 84 bytes, 4.00 ms (4.00 avg, 0% loss)
    10.50.50.1 : [0], 84 bytes, 4.00 ms (4.00 avg, 0% loss)

So everything looks fine for the moment. When i look into the webinterface, the icmpping and icmppingsec value is always 0.

Additional information: I use zabbix with mysql, the kernel is 2.6.26-1-xen-amd64 as it runs in a virtual machine.

    Any ideas?

    Best regards,

    Chris

I had this problem, on the "Type of information" change it to Numeric (float) instead of Numberic Integer 64-bit. That fixed it for me.

      Thanks for your reply!

Even tried this with no success.
On the icmppingsec check I use the numeric float data type too, the same problem - no success. The result in the webinterface always shows 0.

      Also tried with zabbix-server 1.6.3 and 1.6.4

Sorry, the numeric (float) parameter fixed my pingsec but not plain ping. That sounds more basic. Have you run fping from the command line? If that works, maybe post a screenshot or something of the Item setup. I'm no zabbix pro but I'll try to help if I can, or maybe somebody else will chime in.

seems like my system was corrupted in some way.
installed the system on a clean debian lenny, migrated the database and all went fine
