Problem with Distributed Setup

Hello again.

I have set up a distributed setting with one master and 2 child Nodes as described in the zabbix 1.4 Manuall (using 1.4.6) So far the configuration seems to be fine, tough i didnt find a way to deliver templates from the master node to the childs. So i just exported the templates an imported them on the childs.
When i look in the WebGUI of the child nodes, everything seems to be fine. But when i try to monitor Hosts conected to the child at the master, the server doesnt seem to receive item Data from the child nodes. The Hosts are displayed in the overview, but with empty terms.

Is there anythin i have overlooked to get a functional Master/child configuration or isnt a central monitoring not intended?

Update: I have set up all zabbix server new, exactly how it is described in the manual. Unfortunately it is not working either, but the problem seems to bee a litte different. I can now monitor all the zabbix servers, but still not the hosts which are connected at a node.
If i look at the Hosts of a node from the WEBGUI of the master, theyr availability is shown as unknown. When i do the same in the GUI of the node, they are available. This is sort of strange isnt it?
