Zabbix Config for a lot of hosts

Hi All,

I need to monitor around 800 hosts with ICMP/PING and TCP connection to common port such as HTTP, SMTP and POP. Any suggestion what option in zabbix_server.conf should i increase? StartPingers?

I am using DELL PE 860 Quad Core X3210, 4GB RAM and 2x 500GB SATA RAID-1.

Well you can increase the pollers indeed, especially the pingers & the discoverers (if you are planning to use the discovery feature).

tweaking the 2 following arguments should be ok :

StartDiscoverers
Startpingers

But keep in mind you'll have to increase the number of concurrent connections allowed to your Database accordingly (otherwise, your pollers will die due to maximum number of connections reached).
