    zabbix:~ # zabbix_server -h
    ZABBIX Server (daemon) v1.6.1 (04 November 2008)

    usage: zabbix_server [-hV] [-c <file>] [-n <nodeid>]

    Options:
-c --config <file> Specify configuration file
    -h --help give this help
-n --new-nodeid <nodeid> convert database data to new nodeid
    -V --version display version number

The -n option is for when you are converting to a multi-node setup.

To add a host go to Configuration -> Hosts -> Create Host (upperish left)
Next you will have to populate the host with the items you want monitored. You can do this while you are adding a host by clicking "add" next to "Link to template"

You will also need to have the agent already running on the host in question.

The basic chain or hierarchy for Zabbix is host -> item (what we monitor) -> trigger -> action (what to do when a trigger occurs such as email)
