Installing zabbix with external Oracle database server

Does anyone have a good step by step guides to installing libsqlora8 and getting zabbix to compile and work with an external oracle database server.

Any guidance etc would be greatly appreciated.

No help for you there, but I would also like these instructions.

On a side note:

Our next step is also moving to use Oracle for our DB. We are currently using MySql.

I consulted with Alexei on this and he strongly advises to wait for the 1.8 release of Zabbix before implementing on Oracle if you run a larger sized setup - more than 2,000 hosts.

Why whats happening in 1.8 concerning running on Oracle.

Also does anyone know where to get the php-sqlora8 cant find it anywhere on the web and the zabbix manual says I need it for the webfront end to attach to the oracle database.

Simply better support for larger installations and better support from the Zabbix team
