    Smtp authentication ?

    Hello.

I have a quick question about the smtp configuration.
If I want Zabbix to send email, I can give him an smtp server, but I see nowhere where I can put a password.

Currently it works... I don't really understand why ? Is it because my smpt and the recipient are on the same domain ?

And is it possible to setup the smtp auth ?

    Thanks in advance.

Check the SMTP server's configuration. It may be configured to accept relaying for hosts on the same network (for example hosts in the same /24 subnet), or relaying for senders (@whatever.com) in the same domain as you said, etc ...

So far it is not supported by zabbix_server.

You have to use an external script/media that will send mail with authentication. There's a topic/howto on the forum dedicated to a script that does exactly that by using a small program that supports SMTP Auth.

      It's what I thought.

Information if anybody is looking for this script :

But I think such a feature could be added to the new version of zabbix. It could be very usefull.
