User Permissions - Read Only takes precedence over Read Write. Why?

I would like to know this is intended behavior or a bug.

I have 10 User Groups each having Read Write Permission on 10 different Host Groups. I also have 1 User Group with Read ONLY permission on all 10 Host Group.

I would like to make each user to have Read Write Permission on one group and read only on rest of the groups.

If I add a User to User Group that has read only on all hosts, he gets Read Only though he already has Read Write on one particular group.

Over all, Read ONLY takes precedence over Read Write, is this how it is designed?

    Appreciate quick help!

    Thanks
    Vijay

Users get lowest permission, it is the way it should be.

Thanks so much Aly for your reply

      I have Host Groups say HG1, HG2, HG3 up to HG15

I want each user group say
      - UG1 have read write on HG1 and Read only rest of HG2 to HG15
      - same way UG2 have read write on HG2 and read only HG1, HG3 to HG15 etc

Can u please tell me how do I do that?

(Should I create two user groups for each host group, one with read and another with read-write, wouldn’t it be easier if I have one read only group on all hosts and attach it to each user)

      Thanks
      Vijay

There are several ways how to achieve the goal in your situation, but none of them so called "easy".
