External Checks - Multiline Values (aka Text)

is it possible to get Text items from External checks?

Numeric items are working. But if they return multiline values and the item is configured as "text" it doesn't appear anything. No error in zabbix_server.log nor are the values stored in db.

Are external checks restricted to 1 line or is this a bug?
