    temperature status in room

    Hi,

I would like to monitor the temperature in our server rooms.
If temperature is too high, zabbix must send an sms (like we have now with servers etc).
Does anyone has good experience with some kind of sensor ? if yes, could you post type and details about it and where to buy ?

    thnx.

I use an APC temperature sensor that connects to my APC SmartUPS battery backup unit. It comes as an option or standard with many of there mid-high end units. The sensor plugs into a port on there management card and has about a 25' cord so you can place it anywhere you want it. They also have units that measure humidity as well.

        Hi

We use some AKCP sensorProbe2 with SNMP. Work well and they have an explicit water sensor. We use this to check that the pump is bringing out the water from the air condition. If not, there is a problem in the server room...

          Another way to monitor temperature

          Hey there..

As mentioned above, you could use the AKCP temperature probe and get the data via SNMP. (I have a server room that uses this method, and it works well).

However, you could also use Phidgets- check out the thread I posted here:

The phidget suite of sensors has a temperature sensor.

i use a nice piece of hardware from here http://www.messpc.de called ethernetbox. it already has a network interface and a bunch of sensors availiable. i have the temperature sensor, smoke and water detector and a powerswitcher installed. with zabbix i can use them with snmp in a scenario like this:

            - Temp Sensor > 30 C = True, send SMS to Admin: "Temperaturewarning"
            - Smoke Detector = True and Water Detector = False, send SMS to Admin and FireDept. : "Get Panic. Serverroom is burnin"
            - Smoke Detector = True and Water Detector = True, FireDept has arrived and is putting Fire out, send SMS to Admin: "Get the Backup Tapes and drive to the Office (or whats left over)"
            - Smoke Detector = False and Water Detector = True, send SMS to Admin: "FireDept. has done the Job. Clean up." -> Send Action to Powerswitch: "Turn off the lights".
